I fell in love with Colombia! I enjoyed the fresh food, salsa music, brightly lit buildings, history and the Colombian people,Β Follow me @sweetiffys asΒ I take you on my Instagram photo journey through Bogota, Medellin, and Colombia.
Bogota
Take a tram or walk up to see Monserrate, a mountain in Bogota’s city center.Β After arriving at the top, visit the inside of the church, eat a meal, buy a souvenir or simply enjoy the view. Be advised that it is 3,152 above sea level.
Don’t forget to take a day trip to see the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira, an underground Roman Catholic church built in salt tunnels.
Medellin
When you think ofΒ Medellin, Colombia,Β Pablo Escobar immediately comes to mind. Take a Pablo Escobar Tour. Visit his grave-site, house and the place where he was captured by police.
Communa 13 was once knows as a deadly city, it is now known for graffiti art.Β Take a free guided tour in Communa 13 to learn about the history and transformation of the city.
I was immediately drawn to this art work because it reminded me of myself.
Take a day trip to Guatape, Colombia to climb El Penol. You must climb 740 steps to the top.
Yay, I made it. It was worth the 740 steps to the top.
Take a free walking tour around the city. I enjoyed the statues in Plaza Botero by famous Colombian artist Fernando Botero.
Or check out the city on ATV’s.
Cartagena
Visit Cerro La Popa, when I saw the views, I knew that I had to capture this photo for Instagram.
Visit Playa Blanca for a relaxing day at the Beach.
Take a day trip to Palenque, a town where the first freed slaves of the Americas were located,
Dont forget to take a picture inside the walled city with women of Palenque.
I have never been a fan of whole fish, but this was so delicious I’m craving this food as I write this blog post.
Take Pictures at Cafe Havana, in Cartagena.
There are also free guided tours in Cartagena. I absolutely loved this picture of strong Afro Colombian women.
